Fitness

I’m James Kupka & I’m fairly fit. I’m not a doctor or certified to dispense advice about health or medicine.  I am, however, fit & have spent the last 17 years or so studying my body & the effects various diet & training regimens have on me.

THE SHORT ANSWER:

Eat all the green & leafy veggies, seafood, nuts, berries & lean meat you like. Leave out grains, dairy & processed foods.  Lift very heavy things a couple times each week.  Run or otherwise exercise anaerobically once each week.  Walk, hike, jog, cycle… whatever… for long periods of time, nearly every day.   You can’t go too slowly on these slow aerobic ‘workouts’. Seriously: take it slow.

THE LONG ANSWER:

Is the reason there’s a whole section of this site dedicated to fitness. There’s a lot to think about & understand if we’re to maximize our health.  As this site grows, i’ll link the relevant articles here.

MY PLAN:

My 20’s were about performance. My 30’s are about building the lean mass & organ reserve that will stand me in good stead as an old man. My 40’s & 50’s will be about maintaining that high-functioning body. My 60’s & beyond will be about injury avoidance & general health maintenance.

That all means that my past was about racing, my present is about lifting heavy things, plyo, yoga & some endurance events, and my future will be about consistent use.

Best of luck to you!  Be Well.
